@Bagwag82 Traditionally fighting games would introduce a delay to inputs to make sure they’re properly synced between the 2 players online. The worse the connection, the bigger the delay, meaning the game would feel much less responsive.
Without going into much detail, rollback allows to sync inputs without adding delay, which makes it feel almost as if you’re playing offline. The are some drawbacks but most agree it’s a much better experience in games that often require very precise timing.
It’s been a thing in fighting games for a good while but only now it’s becoming the standard, which is great.
