If you followed the dramatic story of Aiden Jackson and Devon Butler in F1 2021 story mode Braking Point, then you’ll be excited to learn it’s making a return in EA Sports F1 23. We were clinging to every word of the plot relayed by reviewer Stephen Tailby at the time, and we’re looking forward to hearing more about the twists and turns set to take place in this year’s version!
“The return of Braking Point allows players to immerse themselves in a racing story, which provides a unique look at F1 alongside the authentic race features our players know and love,” Codemasters’ Lee Mather beamed. “Our close relationship with the teams has allowed us to refine our handling model, adding greater realism to pad-play, and implementing a new colour encoding system used in film and TV creates a more true-to-life experience.”
As above, the developer says it’s used real-life F1 team feedback to improve vehicle physics, providing a “greater balance between aerodynamics and tyre grip results in a more realistic feel”. It also claims that a new controller technology named Precision Drive will “give pad players better control and confidence in those crucial race moments”.
A full reveal is planned for 3rd May at 4PM BST, but the publisher has revealed that current World Champion Max Verstappen will front the digital-only Champions Edition of the game, while Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, and Charles Leclerc will headline the bog-standard physical release. The simulation racer’s due out on 16th June, although the Champions Edition will come out three days earlier.
